Every job we do is unique therefore we need to ask some questions before quoting for a project. It is only upon receipt of this information that we can advise, from a permissions point of view, if the job is possible. Following the pre-flight survey and risk assessment we can provide a fixed quote.
1. We require a job brief
This should include information on what the client wants to achieve. We need to ascertain if expectations are feasible, safe and legal (within the restrictions placed upon us by the CAA)
2. Location
It is helpful for us to know the postcode or co-ordinates of the location and that we have the land owners permission for take off and landing. We then check the location is suitable for flying and the airspace for any restrictions or extra permissions required. Carry out a remote risk assessment and on arrival carry out an on site safety survey.
3. Date and Time
Primarily to check our availability and also to take into account additional factors that may affect filming at that time (this could include weather, events in the area and air traffic restrictions)
We aim to offer a flexible service and because our work is weather dependant we are aware that some jobs are booked at the last-minute. We do however need enough time to carry out pre flight checks to ensure it can be undertaken safely under the terms of our operating license and insurance.
4. Costs
Each job varies slightly depending on the location & pre-planning.
5. Operating Limitations
We must fly line of sight to a max. of 500m horizontally from the pilot and max. 120m vertically from the pilot.
50m distance away from anything not under our control and 150m away from gatherings of 1000 or more people.
Our batteries allow us to fly for approx 25 minutes, wind speed max 20mph and not in the rain.
We can fly 24/7 and have Night Ops permission but we must inspect the location during daylight hours first.
We charge 25% deposit when a booking is made and if the shoot cannot go ahead and providing alternative arrangements can be made, we will transfer this to the new date. If the shoot cannot be rearranged we will discuss terms of cancellation with individual clients in order to reach a mutually acceptable agreement. If the job is cancelled for any reason the deposit is not refundable and any costs incurred will be charged like flight planning and risk assessment time. If the contract is deemed as fulfilled then all the full amount is due for payment by the client. We charge a mileage fee of 45p per mile – if the job is cancelled at a location for any reason (including adverse weather) this charge is still payable by the client if the journey has been made.
Each assignment is unique and will have different factors that could alter the pricing depending on complexity and equipment used.
